2016 rogue navigation system indicators1/29/2024 I pulled into a rest stop, turned it off for a half hour, re-started it, ran the fixd app again, but this time it said "no errors", and threw no codes. On, same trip, same road, same 90+ temps outside, on I-95, (alligator alley), a little over 1 hour in, no cruise control this time, car did the same exact thing: decelerated from 82 to -60 mph. It ran ok for the rest of the trip and the return trip but acceleration was sluggish. It brought up code p0744, "torque converter clutch circuit intermittent". I pulled into a rest stop, turned it off for 20 minutes, then restarted it and used my fixd device and app. Car suddenly decelerated to -60 mph and, pedal to the metal, would not accelerate, continued to slow down. Lauderdale to sarasota, florida, on I-95, (alligator alley) around 1 hr in after turning on cruise control, (90+ outside temps), cruising at around 82 mph. I fear that if this problem isn't corrected soon an unsuspecting driver could get hurt!. I was surprised to hear that a recall was not in place for this system, considering this has been a known issue since 2014 and yet the Nissan company has yet to issue any type of safety recall for the Rogue models, hence my safety complaint. I was told that I would have to pay approximately $150 to install the update to the system, which to me should be covered by the company due to implied safety issues. I took the vehicle to my local Nissan dealership and they mentioned that there were no current recalls in place for this particular issue and that the system would need to be updated with the latest software update to see if the problem is corrected. Also, when the fault appears, the brakes are abruptly applied before being released which is a very serious safety issue especially when driving during inclement weather as your relying on the integrity of your braking system. The fault consists of a front radar obstruction warning light malfunction illuminating leading to the disengagement of the cruise control feature (if engaged prior to the malfunction) or the cruise control feature and the emergency braking system becoming disabled. The sensor is tied to the cruise control and emergency braking system. The front radar sensor is part of the intelligent forward warning system in Nissans and its job is to detect the distance between vehicles. I recently purchased my 2018 Nissan Rogue in August of 2020 and as of March 2021, I've had 5 instances where the front radar system for the cruise control feature malfunctioned while driving on the highway. Sometimes when it is raining really hard the same warning light & audible alarm will sound, however cruise control remains operational as does the automatic braking. So far this problem has always happened on the highway or interstate, never in town. I have had 2 close calls because of this - one with a car in front of me stopping abruptly and the system failed to maintain the selected gap between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me so I had to veer onto the median to avoid a collision the second time the cruise abruptly disengaged traffic behind me almost ran into me which caused vehicles behind me to have a close call. When this does happen in heavy traffic the situation becomes dangerous quickly because the automated braking is disabled and if the radio is on it's easy to not realize the system is off until your speed is reduced significantly. Other times it may not happen at all on a 100 mile trip. Car may experience this oroblem twice in hundred mile trip on perfectly clear day. After 10 miles or so the flasing light goes off, everything returns to normal, cruise control works properly. Start driving, same situation, front radar obstructed, cruise not available. I restart engine, same warning appears before I even put transmission in drive. Everything is fine, no bugs, not debri, no obstruction. I stop, check all radar/sensors for debri. Cruise control will not work and any attempt to use cruise control is met with audible alarm and warning that front radar is obstructed. Driving down interstate on nice clear day with minimal traffic, cruise control set at 70mph when suddenly the cruise disengages, warning light begins to appear on dash showing 2 cars colliding with audible alarm informing me that the front radar is obstructed.
